Jeffrey, the second chapter of Spiritica’s Crime Collection, takes the disturbing history of Jeffrey Dahmer as the starting point for an exploration of obsession, possession and duality. It examines the distance between outward gentleness and concealed violence, translating that tension into a composition where coldness and sweetness sit uneasily together.
Created by perfumers Paolo Cerizza and Lorenzo Orlandi Berti alongside founder Daniele Muratori Caputo, the fragrance opens with a sharp, almost clinical chill. Iced beer, popper accord, white orange, live yeast and acidic aldehydes suggest an ordinary interior made unfamiliar: an apparent calm with something unsettling beneath the surface.
As that first impression recedes, the heart reveals a more visceral character. Dirty carpet, carnation, coagulated blood, human sweat and sharp blade accords create a dense, disquieting atmosphere. The familiar becomes troubling, reflecting the composition’s central tension between what is visible and what remains hidden.
The base introduces an unexpected sweetness, threaded through melted plastic, damp cellar, amber, birch and vetiver. Warmth emerges without dispelling the unease, carrying the contrast between attraction and discomfort into the fragrance’s lingering trail.
This narrative extends to the bottle. Created by Lorenzo and his team at Only the Dreamers, the cap features a flocked, laser-engraved finish designed to reproduce the texture of the carpet in Dahmer’s apartment. Its tactile surface brings a physical detail from the source material into the work.
Criminologist Daniela Cavallo also contributed to the project’s historical and conceptual development, helping shape its behavioral profile and narrative structure. As she explains, “Perfume becomes a dialogue between emotional and narrative stimulus – an artistic work that explores the human soul and its contradictions.”
Conceived as an olfactory work of storytelling and introspection, Jeffrey uses deliberately unconventional accords to confront a disturbing subject. Its shifting coldness and warmth sustain a sense of unresolved tension, inviting reflection on obsession and the destructive desire to possess.
